PYP Elementary Reports 150 150 School Office PYP

On December 20th, the first written report for elementary students will be shared with parents via Toddle. This is the first of three written reports your elementary child will receive during this school year; the second report will be shared in April and the third in June.

Learning for our Early Years students is documented throughout the school year through Learning Stories (shared on Toddle) and all Early Years students will receive one written report in June of this school year.

During the last school year, as we undertook the IB Evaluation self-study process, we began a review of the structure and content of our written elementary reports. We have completed this review and have adjusted our written reports based on feedback from parents, teachers and the IB school visitors. The result of this review process is our updated PYP Elementary Reports which now provide clearer, more concise feedback about your child’s learning. The updates include: revised achievement indicators, clearly stated successes (achievements), clear and personal next steps (learning goals), as well as a common description of the learning that has taken place.

Common descriptions of the learning that has taken place
For each unit of inquiry and for maths, language, Italian, Physical Education and Music learning we have included a brief description of the learning/teaching that has taken place to provide you with a clear context for your child’s successes (achievements) and next steps (learning goals). Note: As in previous years, Single Subject Teachers will provide written comments as part of written reports as indicated here:
– December: Italian, Physical Education
– April: Music
– June: Italian, Music, Physical Education

Successes (achievements) and Next Steps (learning goals)
Each area will include clear, concise indications about what your child has done well (successes) and specific indications about learning goals (next steps) to describe what your child will do in order to continue to develop as learners.

Revised Achievement Indicators
We have updated the Achievement Indicators to better reflect our students and our program. These indicators describe where your child is with his/her learning at this moment in time and should be read together with the successes and next steps. The updated indicators are as follows:

E – Extending: Extends and transfers skills, knowledge and concepts independently, The student is consistently working beyond expectations.
P – Proficient: Proficient at applying skills, knowledge and concepts with increased independence; the student fully meets expectations.
D – Developing: Developing an understanding of skills, knowledge and concepts with teacher support; the student needs teacher support to meet expectations.
B – Beginning: Beginning to acquire basic skills, knowledge and concepts; more time and focus is needed.

We are confident that these revised reports will provide students and parents with clear indications about each child’s learning, progress and future goals.
