Dear Parents,
I hope you felt how happy we were to welcome you and your families back to school.
This week we welcomed new boarding students on Sunday, new students on Monday, and all students on Tuesday. On Tuesday we also inaugurated our beautiful new IBDP building. Today, the Campus is still buzzing with energy and we aim to keep it this way!
Our goal this first week is to get to know your children so that we can support their wellbeing and their learning as well as possible this year. The pleasure which students and teachers are experiencing as they get to know each other is palpable. In some cases, for older students, we also use the first week to run diagnostic tests and to refine students’ subject choices so they are as closely aligned as possible with their interests and their competences.
I know that some of our students were concerned about understanding how things work – whether this is changing classes and teachers in PYP, changing buildings to MYP or trying new subjects in MYP 4-5 and the DP. Please rest assured that we will move mountains to resolve any obstacles to learning and wellbeing so that your children can start next week with even more clarity, confidence and enthusiasm.
Over the coming weeks there will be dozens of information sessions and social gatherings. You will receive invitations to these soon, if you haven’t already and I very much look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at these events.
All the best,
Conan De Wilde, Head of School
