Join Livia Timms from Warwick University for a presentation on how to write your personal statement for UK applications. She will also be able to answer any question you may have about the Russell group universities in the UK.

MYP5-DP1-DP2: Application process for the Netherlands – Tuesday, 26th September, 5-6 PM, ONLINE

Valdo Academics and H Guidance Counselors will share information on how to apply to Dutch Universities. The workshop will be led by Dutch applications expert Lonnie Holders from the Valdo Academics team, who will provide an overview of the Dutch system, entry requirements for numerus fixus programs (such as psychology)  and guidelines on how to write motivation letters when required.

MYP5 – DP2: American University of Rome Open House – Thursday, 28th September at 7 PM CET, online

Calling all internationally-minded students! The American University of Rome is hosting a Virtual Open House. This is an exciting opportunity for any of your international-bound students looking for a U.S.-accredited bachelor’s program in Europe. In this session, you and any interested students will explore AUR’s academic offerings and student life opportunities; discover the advantages of experiential learning in Rome, Italy, and beyond; and get inspired by AUR’s diverse and dynamic community of global explorers. MYP5 – DP2: Performing Arts Work Experience and Careers Day – Saturday, 30th September at 11 AM-4 PM BST, ONLINE

For any student who dreams of a career in performing arts, our performing arts careers and work experience day will help you decide if it’s the career for you, give you some work experience and help you with your applications.The morning is centred around your applications. We’ll discuss all of your options and exactly what you need to do in order to get that elusive training place. In the afternoon, our team will split everyone into groups and we work together on an exercise that places you at the heart of the industry, being able to see a production from all angles. When it comes to your applications, you’ll need to know the exact route to take to succeed in a career in the performing arts and also demonstrate you have thoroughly researched the career. DP2 Students Individual Meetings with Counsellors 

All DP2 students are invited to review the H-FARM application timeline and mark two important internal deadlines on their calendar: 22nd September for essay drafts and 24th November for application to the US, UK and Netherlands. Students are also invited to schedule an individual meeting with their counsellor to discuss next steps and the evolution of their plans. Please note that in order to better support all students, the guidance office has two counsellors and students have been assigned according according to last names in alphabetical order:

  • Ms Cristina Mocanu          surnames Ru – Z

US Applicant Workshop on College Essay Writing 

Valdo Academics, the educational consultancy and tutoring agency (www.valdoacademics.com/choose) is offering a free workshop to teach students how to write the perfect Common App and Additional Essays for American Applications. The workshop will be led by the company founder and CEO, and will provide sample material of exceptional essays, as well as guidelines for how to write your own application essays. DP2 students applying to the US are strongly encouraged to attend alongside MYP5 and DP1 students potentially interested in the US.

College Application ‘Boot Camp’/ Corso di Orientamento Intensivo 

The H-FARM International ‘College Application Boot Camp’ will be led by Jack Shull. Jack has over 35 years as a professional school and college counsellor. He has worked at seven international schools in seven countries supporting high school students in college and career development, social and emotional support and academic course planning.

Jack will begin each evening session with a specific topic on creating a narrative for your college  applications. He will bring students up to speed on everything from college list building to essay writing. The eight interactive sessions will last from one and half to two hours for two weeks from Monday to Thursday. There will be working time during each session to allow students to complete sections of their applications and work on their essays, allowing for immediate questions and feedback. Jack will assist students in organizing their college applications and understand what essays they need to write. He will brainstorm a list of potential college essays topics and explain the differences between personal statements, specialized prompt essays and short answer responses. Students will come away from College Application Boot Camp with a solid start on completing their college applications.

In this bootcamp, students will:

  1. revise your college list and maximise your chance of acceptance to a “good match” university
  2. compare different institutions and clarify your selection of your top choice universities as well as the reasons for your choice
  3. practice how to write about your interests, strengths and achievements 
  4. practice completing the application forms 
  5. learn how to adapt writing styles to different target universities

Target: DP2 students, 18 spots available (min 10 students required for the activity to start)

Dates: Monday, 25th September – Friday October 6th, 8-9:30

Cost : €1100 standard price

  • € 900 special price for day students
  • € 550 special price for 5/7 boarding students
  • € 400 special price for 7/7 boarding students
