On Thursday, January 16th 2025, Mr. Molinari, Ms. Gobbo, and Ms. Triantafillis will accompany their DP1 Italian Language and Literature classes on a visit to the Guggenheim Museum to view the temporary exhibition “Marina Apollonio. Oltre il cerchio”.
In class, students are currently examining the interdisciplinary connections between poetry, visual arts, and music in contemporary culture. This includes a focus on Andrea Zanzotto, particularly his unique approach to portraying landscapes and the interaction between his poetic style and visual art. They are also delving into the relationship between poetry and songwriting, exploring how various expressive forms intersect. Additionally, students are exploring the worlds of comics and graphic novels, analysing how these modern narrative forms blend visual art and storytelling.

Marina Apollonio’s work, known for its exploration of geometric forms and visual perception, aligns closely with the themes students are studying in class. Her art challenges viewers to engage with the interaction between abstract visual elements and the viewer’s experience, much like the way Zanzotto’s poetry engages with the natural world. Apollonio’s work will provide a practical example of the connections between visual art and poetry, offering students a deeper understanding of these interdisciplinary influences.

The trip will provide students with an opportunity to engage with contemporary art and its interdisciplinary dimensions, exemplified in the works of Marina Apollonio.
