Dear Parents,
We need to make sure that we do everything to limit the temptations of smoking on Campus.
Starting next week we will be asking students, whether they are day students or boarding students, to submit to spot checks – in rooms or in bags or on their person. Our goal is not to play the police and ‘catch’ students but to make the risks of smoking more immediate for students. Adolescents, as we know well, have trouble gauging long term risks.
Unfortunately vaping is highly addictive and harmful and we need to accompany our educative and preventative approaches with some regular searches with clear consequences.
If vapes or cigarettes or any drugs are found on a student or in their belongings we will:
1) Confiscate the device and substance.
2) Repeat offenses will result in suspension or expulsion.
If students are caught smoking / using vapes, cigarettes, zyn etc…, we will
1) Suspend the student for 3 days from school and (if relevant) from boarding.
2) If students smoke or vape in any area on the school premises this will also result in fines in line with Italian law.
Of course students caught dealing drugs or distributing devices will be expelled.
The above approach will apply from March 11th.
We are asking for your support. Should you have any questions, please write to the student office ahead of March 11th so we can further explain our approach and why we will this will support better student choices
