Dear PYP Parents,
At the end of every school year I marvel at how much our students have changed and how much they have learned. This year is no different. The privilege of spending time each day with such amazing human beings never gets old for me. I am proud of each of your children for what they have accomplished and I trust, after spending time with them in school for Student Led Conferences, you also feel proud of their learning and development throughout this school year.
This year we welcomed over 50 new students and their families who helped broaden the international nature of our school community. We held many in person (finally!) events and opportunities for parents to take part in their child’s learning journey. Our students took part in over 40 educational visits, including three incredible residential experiences for Years 3, 4 and 5. Our increased level of English Language Support allowed all students to further develop their language capabilities and our first ever Language Atelier: The Power of Writing was incredibly successful at empowering our young writers.
We offered our first ever internal Italian exam option for year 5 students which provided a challenging and viable option for our internationally minded families to the traditional external exams. Our PYP Exhibition was a wild success that provided our Year 5 students with the opportunity to share their passions and showcase their learning to over 500 guests over the course of two days. They made us very proud and demonstrated to all who attended how effective our PYP program is.
This year we launched the PYP H-Skills because, as a school, we want more for our students. We deeply believe that by developing our students’ abilities to be respectful, inclusive and open-minded, they will have the opportunity to change the world for the better. Through a diverse range of learning experiences, the PYP students developed essential human skills that not only empowered each of them as individuals, but contributed to a connected, safe and compassionate sense of community in the PYP section; demonstrating that the H for Human is at the heart of everything we do.
We bid a fond farewell to the children, families and teachers who will leave our school this year. You will be missed and we wish you the best for the future.
I wish all of you a relaxing, safe and enjoyable summer and I look forward to welcoming you back to school in September.
Un abbraccio per tutti – Jane
