On Wednesday, March 19th, our M1 students had the privilege of attending an engaging and thought-provoking talk by Flavia Pastò, a renowned architect and landscape designer. Flavia discussed Nature-Based Solutions applied to the design of sustainable housing, focusing on how nature-inspired actions can enhance living comfort while minimizing environmental impact.

Throughout the session, she highlighted the benefits of green roofs and green walls, which improve thermal and acoustic insulation, reduce energy consumption, and support biodiversity. She also touched on the importance of water reuse, explaining how rainwater and wastewater can be used for irrigating green spaces, including green roofs.

The goal of the talk was to help students understand the importance of incorporating natural solutions into architecture to build more sustainable and resilient cities, all within the context of the Ecohouses and Sustainability unit.

A big thank you to Flavia for providing our students with a new perspective on the role of nature in architecture and sustainability!
