Details:
- When: Wednesday, April 16th
- Where: M9 museum in Mestre (VE) and Campus
- What: museum workshop/visit and photography workshop
- Unit of Inquiry Changes over Time: Year 1 will explore the continuities and changes in children’s lives over time, with a particular focus on the use of technology. Children will embark on a journey of exploring personal and family histories, looking into the past through the analysis of evidence. They will gain firsthand experience with objects that were once integral to daily life and examine how the layout of homes and daily routines have evolved. This exploration will help them compare and contrast their own lifestyles with those of the past, identifying changes over time and making connections between objects and the people who used them. As part of their inquiry, students will focus on photography as a means to record life, moments, and events. They will explore how the ways we capture memories have changed over time, from historical methods to modern technology. To deepen their understanding, students will use analogue cameras, gaining hands-on experience with traditional photography techniques. This experience will allow students to reflect on how technology has transformed the way we document our lives while fostering a deeper appreciation for historical and contemporary storytelling through images. Students will continue their understanding of photography as evidence of the past by visiting the M9 Museum in Mestre to explore the exhibition “The way we were and are/Come eravamo, come siamo” and do the workshop “A journey through time/Un viaggio nel tempo”. This visit will provide them with an opportunity to analyze historical and contemporary photographs, deepening their appreciation of how visual documentation shapes our understanding of history and personal identity.
