PYP5 residential trip to Rimini and Modena 1920 1080 School Office PYP

Dear PYP5 Parents

We are very excited to inform you about an exciting one night residential experience we have planned for our Year 5 students.

The visit and the proposed activities are aimed at consolidating knowledge of our Italian territory. Specifically, the children will be able to recognise by themselves the location, along with the physical and anthropic elements of the various regions, picking out their differences and similarities. They will also have the opportunity to locate the position of the main cities and regional capitals.

This unique experience will provide the opportunity for our students to learn more about the different regions of Italy as well as some key aspects of Emilia-Romagna. After arriving in Emilia-Romagna we will begin this cultural learning experience by enjoying a piadina (Romagna’s street foot) before spending the afternoon at Italia in Miniatura in Rimini where they will explore the park, take part in an organized tour and also participate in a special guided exploration titled: Discovering UNESCO Treasures.

We will then transfer to the Modena area to learn in detail about the production of two world famous Italian products: parmesan cheese and balsamic vinegar. Our students will wake up very early on Day Two so they can watch the real time production of parmesan cheese at the Caseificio Moscattini – we will taste some as well! After this, they will then learn how balsamic vinegar is made, starting in the vineyards at Acetaia Leonardi, then viewing their casks and ancient barrels, visiting their museum and tasting balsamic vinegar. Our time in the Modena area would not be complete without a lunch of gnocco e tigelle which we will enjoy together before returning to school.

This educational visit is scheduled for May 26-27 and our students will be accompanied by: Margherita Bustaffa, Emma Holland, Cristina Milos, Federica Rossi and Erik Roman.
